Lomi Lomi massage exudes the spirit of Aloha, (acceptance and respect),
provides an attitude of sacredness that dominates the traditions and culture of
the natives of the Hawaiian islands.
This Lomi Lomi massage differs from Swedish massage through application of forearm movements and stretch techniques. Lomi Lomi flows as deep as the recipient can tolerate, so is very powerful. The Lomi Lomi massage is given in fluid, rhythmic motion using the forearms as well as the hands. Some people have described this as feeling like gentle waves moving over the body. Another feature is that different parts of the body may be massaged at the same time, for example one arm or hand may be working on a shoulder and the other hand may be working on the opposite hip. This assists the recipient in totally relaxing as it is impossible or at least extremely difficult for the brain to focus on the two different areas at once. By not working on areas in isolation a deep sense of balance and harmony is achieved. Whilst technique is important, the priority is loving the body, using intuition so the massage is "right" for the client. The client on the table is not viewed as someone to be fixed, but a being to be returned to harmony and balance. It is important to remember that the practitioner does not heal but is the facilitator for the healing. Moving to the music the Lomi Lomi massage is fluid, rhythmical, communicative and nurturing. Every illness and infirmity is regarded as having a spiritual component. Negativity manifests in diminished health as the body gathers the results of the unhealthy attitudes. The Lomi Lomi massage has been developed to release and heal in a relaxing and loving way. The long stokes, soothing stretches, rotations and squeezes are combined with a loving, grounded and healing intent to make you feel soothed and whole again. Treatments are offered either at my therapy room in Kirkby in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire or if you live within driveable distance and have enough
space, then your home is a better alternative. After all you will be totally relaxed after the Lomi Lomi massage and would prefer not to have to drive home.
